More players to watch

Rose Zhang: The 20-year-old turned pro in May after winning the NCAA individual title for the second year in a row. Zhang wasted no time making her mark, winning the Mizuho Americas Open in her LPGA debut. She already has three top-10 finishes.

Andrea Lee: After earning her first LPGA victory by winning the Portland Classic in 2022, Lee is back to defend her title. She told reporters Wednesday that Portland will always have a special place in her heart. “Just all the emotions I feel like are coming back as I look at 18 and the moment that I had with my dad last year, just kind of crying it out and having that embrace after I won,” Lee said. Her best performances this year came last month, when she finished tied for ninth at both the FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open and the AIG Women’s Open.

Caroline Inglis: The former Oregon Ducks standout, now 29, made eight cuts in 17 events in 2022. That included a run to a tie for 15th at the Portland Classic in front of a group of vocal supporters. Inglis has made seven cuts this season, with her best finish a tie for 11th at the LOTTE Championship in April.

Kyra Ly: The Oregon State sophomore and graduate of Portland’s Cleveland High School earned a sponsor invitation to the tournament. “I really want to go into this tournament not expecting too much,” Ly told reporters Tuesday. “I mean, I am playing with the best in the world, so making the cut would be nice, but I’m really not going to set my expectations too high.”
